This Ethernet module allows you to easily add a wired connection to projects with 3V or 5V microcontrollers. It communicates via SPI and supports automatic DHCP setup, while the LINK and ACTIVITY LEDs indicate connection status. The module works with the Arduino Ethernet and CircuitPython libraries for easy integration into IoT projects. Adafruit 6348
Wiz5500 Ethernet Co-Processor is a practical solution for IoT projects that require a reliable, wired Internet connection. With this board, you can easily add an Ethernet port to your project – simply connect a standard Ethernet cable and use the Ethernet library for Arduino or CircuitPython.
Ethernet is a proven networking standard supported by every hub and switch, and a physical connection eliminates issues with SSID, passwords, authentication, or antennas. The WIZ5500 chip communicates via the SPI interface and a single CS pin. Libraries for Arduino and CircuitPython simplify configuration, including automatic DHCP setup in just a few seconds. The board includes all necessary support circuitry for 3V or 5V microcontrollers – all level shifting is handled. Additionally, the RJ-45 connector features LINK and ACTIVITY LEDs to indicate connection status. Once wired, it can be used with virtually any microcontroller.
The product does not support PoE, but it can be added using an external PoE splitter. This makes it an ideal solution if you want the advantages of wired networking with easy integration into your electronics projects.
